How can anyone resist that face...??

And now .. getting old grown up .. *sniff*

Its suppose to be the beginning of a new year. This is suppose to be the embarkment of a new journey. A journey which one always supposes starts with much laughter and happiness. But here I am. Spending my first new year as a newly wedded person, sitting on the bed, laptop in front of me, eyes drenched in tears and typing to vent it all out. What the hell is this suppose to mean????

Newlyweds I thought were suppose that we are still encosed happily and engrossed with each other. This is not the case for me. I have a husband whom today of all days has made something significantly clear to me, He Has His OWN life and I have my OWN life. We do not comprise or help each other out. When one enlists help, be reminded that the other party doesnt have to fulfill it because the other party wasn't the one who offered anyway. Asking for help doensn't signify that the other party is obligated or would be happy to help out. Asking for help means that you're only putting pressure and giving the other party grief. So, this is what marriage is suppose to be?!?!? A marriage more of just convenience. If you're down and need help that's your problem dude. If you need help, sure ask, but that doensn't mean I need to do it because I never offered in the first place. So I can opt to just take lightly what you've asked.

This is what I'm suppose to put and bear with... So tell me, why shouldn't I be hurt beyound words @ such callousness. You tell me how those words sound to you.

I've taken the plunge. I've gotten hitched. Taken the step to a lifetime commitment. Yeah ..yeah, so getting married doesn't mean a lifetime commitment what with the amount of divorce rates that we see everyday. But to me, this IS a LIFETIME commitment. Well, at least I'd want it to be ....

Bye bye singlehood....

It makes me wonder what our world is coming to when you read all those horrendous news that are published day after day. Just shortly after the Nurin case which has been widely publized, here we have another case... Breaks one's heart...

I'm coming home....

Monday, September 10, 2007

The days feel like its never ending these days and superbly long. I wanna go home.....

Being sick while in KL was definitely no fun as well. Gawd. To add to the fact that I was in training and having exams most of the time definitely didnt add well. Lets not even go into the fact that I'm still pissed @ my ex-company and probably will be for the rest of all life. The main person being the she-wolf that I've just gotten to realise about. Oh well....

Adding to the fact that unlike Tune Hotel, Internet access over @ Eastin's is NOT only chargable but superbly expensive as well. Hence the reason why I need to fully utlise my 1 hour usage charge @ the amazing rate of RM25!!!

There's so much bottled inside right now but how do I exactly spill it out, I don't know. *sighs*

Muddled...and pissed.

I got an SMS from my "ex" colleague. She's from the Accounting & Administrative side. The sms came as a shock to me but apparently everyone else has been expecting it. Funny thing is that I'm receiving the sms unprepared and everyone else around me were expecting it. I've been told that my pay from the old company will not be released to me due to certain "outstanding issues" which I have failed to settle for them. The ONE who informed me, herself was shocked that I wasn't aware what is being done to me until she informed me because the decision to hold my pay was apparently decided the minute I tendered in my resignation. All other colleagues were expecting it except me due to the fact that by far, no staff has been allowed a graceful and peaceful exit from the Company. And apparently, I was the only one who foolishly believed in the best of my bosses. Especially the one boss whom I have always held in respect and been loyal too.
This came as a big blow to me. They apparently have been planning and plotting against me yet I was oblivous to it all. Till the very last day before I left for KL, I was still foolishly helping out. What an idiot! This the 2nd time I feel that the bosses have broken my heart especially the boss whom I have given my loyalty to for the full 6 years of my service to the company. Whatever was told to me and instructed to me, I have always listened and obeyed without question. I thought this person would be trustworthy. When tendering in my resignation, I was so torn. Apparently, I shouldn't have agonized myself so much about it because they have NEVER appreciated what I have done.
The issues that they are picking out with me now are issues that are not within my job scope. Things that are not under me AND should have been handled by their ownself for the very beginning. The procedures within the Company itself is so messy and yet @ the end, they are blaming on staff whom are in no condition responsible for the messiness within the Company itself. Apparently EVERYONE else was expecting THEM to make life difficult for me. All except ME.

How could I have been such a fool????
I feel hurt and betrayed beyound what I can describe. Through my 6 years with this Company, I have shed more tears that I deem worthy of them. Through turmoils within the Company, I have stood resolutely behind them and for them. This is what I get in return. Betrayal in ways that I never thought they were capable of.
How can ANYONE @ all have a clear conscience of what they're doing and play act like a drama knowing full well how they are actually stabbing and twisting the knife in a person's back??? It is just beyond me. Is the world really that corrupt??? I have so many questions sitting now in me. Hurt that spills out. Anger @ the injustice of it all. Anger @ my own naiveness. Anger @ my foolishness and my beliefs.
I want so much right now to just lash out and cause the same hurt that they have caused me...
Other ex-colleagues now tell that I should just leave things be... But where is the fairness in that??? I'm entitled to my pay am I not??? It is MY RIGHT and what I DESERVE and WORKED for. How can I just sit back and let it be....???

Kuala Lumpur - Merdeka Day!

Tek and I arrived in KL 29.08.2007. For the first two nights, we're both putting up @ the TUNE Hotel. When they first launched it, we managed to get our rooms for only RM9.99 (add on the ++) however, looking @ the current room rates now, they've increased quite a fair bit. But I guess like Air Asia fares, if you book earlier, it should be cheaper. The rooms that they offer is really a very very basic room. There isn't even much room for you to maneovour even! There's only a bed with an attached bathroom which is super small. (sorry, can't attach any photos as of now). However, for the price that we're paying we can't complain much. The room comes with a ceiling fan and if you wish to have air-conditioning, you need to prepay for the hours. Tek bought a 12 hours credit for air-conditioning. There isn't any cupboard or table @ all in the room. You definitely can't sneak anyone into the bedroom to bunk with you because there is ABSOLUTELY NO SPACE @ all. If you were to look at the WEBSITE - don't let the photos fool you. It is quite accurate except for the lighting in the photographs potrays the room slightly larger than what it really is.

But because it is new, everything else is new. You need to bring over your own towels (if you depend on hotels to provide like I usually do) or you can always buy them @ the convenience store @ the Lobby of the hotel. There's a "Uncle John's Kopitiam" as well serving as the restaurant for the hotel. Incidentally, the food is pretty good. The toast that they serve is so much better than Kaya & Toast back home!!! Nasi lemak packs quite a punch. Oh... if you need TV incessantly, TUNE isn't for you because there is absolute NOTHING in the room. You rely on yourself for entertainment. The good thing is that they have 24 hours of free internet access for people who are staying @ the hotel. You of course have to queue up to use it and so far I've been lucky enough to not have to wait too long. New computer and everything so its still really nice to use.

We are going to switch to YMCA today. For further information on YMCA, click HERE

A New Beginning....

A lot has been going on since before the 16th August 2007. I have been in a frenzy trying to tidy up of what is the ending of my time with Somnotec, my old company now. Though technically, I'm on leave. I have moved on to a new company where new things await me. New colleagues. New adjustments and all that. Hence the lack of time to blog and all that crap. Also the fact that I have moved back home and trying to adjust to it still. This means that I no longer hog a pc/laptop all to myself and can access into the Net @ anytime I want. The job change also warrants that for now, I need to re-build everything from scratch. (sighs)

I have sort of settled into the new routine somewhat. Though there's still much I need to learn and pick up from my colleagues. But so far, everyone has been really nice and warm, to which I'm really grateful. I've always had (this is what I think anyway!!) great colleagues while serving with Somnotec.

Right before my move, our dear "datin" returned from S'pore for a week's worth of stay. And us being us, found the time to catch up together and as usual, much fun and laughter emitted from it. Unfortunately, I have only photos of the first night we were together but not of the 2nd which anyway didnt matter much because most of us couldn't make it for the 2nd gathering right before "datin" left.

Things hasn't changed much @ all. To our delight, we found another long lost comrade from high school days whom to our ever growing group of friends we'd be expecting to hear wedding bells soon enough!! Her better half proved to be a great guy who got along well with everyone and has a great sense of humour who joined in the fun with much gutso after I think the initial shock of seeing the craziness of his fiancée's high school friends. :P Alina & Tan, hope we didnt scare you both too much, though Alina by now, I expect that you're very much used to it except that you've not been seeing it for awhile now!!

In light with the concoction that "datin" thought of for Keagan to drink during his wedding with Felicia, he kindly returned the "favour" which I'm grateful to have been spared!!! I have never been a great fan of "oh kau" and I dont think I ever will. Adding the raw egg in definitely didn't make me feel like savouring it any bit @ all!!! However, after much cajoling, persuasion, whinnying and @ the end, we bullied "datin" into finishing half the bottle with the raw egg. Since its done and over with, I'd have to say this now... "Datin, if I were you the other night, I'd have preferred to have the whole bottle of "oh kau" added in with the raw egg!! I can't imagine the smell of it with only half a small bottle of "oh kau" to dilute the smell!! I think you made the wrong choice!!!!!" Ekekekekeke!!!

Other than that, earlier on in the month, my better half and I celebrated our 3rd year anniversary being together. Wheeeee!! Getting old liao :( Its been 3 years that has been filled with plenty of ups and downs. Tears and laughter. Another 3 more years perhaps??? :o)

Its done

Well .. its official now. I have tendered in my resignation. I will be leaving a work that I have already been comfortable and made familarise for 6 years now. By next Thursday, I will officially be reporting in for duty with a new company where I will be meeting new bosses, colleagues and people. The only ones whom (some only) will stay the same will be doctors and such.

I leave behind memories mostly that are great and some that have hurt...

I leave behind a boss who has taught me a lot and given me the chance when I first started out in this industry. I leave behind warm and great colleagues who have been sources of help and encouragement to me.

I look forward to working with another great boss. I certainly do hope so. I look forward to having a good relationship with colleagues. I really hope so.

Happiness that is scarred...

I have gotten what I wished for! Changes are looming ahead of me. Its like starting out in the unknown. Starting all over again. The good news came in today. So right now, I'm bogged down with a lot of things that has to be settled ASAP.
However, one thing that has marred my happiness is that you being unable it seems to be totally happy for me. To me, its like you are always looking out for others. C'mon, what objectivity do you still want me to see?? What fairness?? I mean really, you say I side others?? Well, take a good look! But whatever it is .. thanks a lot to all the others out there who @ least can see it in a point of view where you dont hold me in judgement and give me your fullest support.
To the other person who seems to have failed to share or even show some happiness, you are certainly not who I think you are @ all ...

Kuching Festival 2007

Hmmmm ... this year's Kuching Festival doens't seem to have any more changes than all the previous years. In fact, it seems even emptier than all the other previous years. Tek and I went over today to check out the food that are for sale there. Sadly, there seems to be quite a lot of stalls that aren't around. The last 2 years, there were a loooottt of "sio bee" stalls. This year, there weren't as many "sio bee" stalls, but then a lot of other food stalls seems to be lacking as well. The crowd wasn't what it used to be as well. There were actually vacant tables around!! And it was around 7pm when we were walking around, which normally is the most packed time during the fest on any other years.

One of the things I normally look forward to during the Kuching Fest is the Thai Restaurant's stall that sells their Thai desserts. I love those! However, this year, I've not seen them around, though the Thai Restaurant stall is around. Their dessert stall seemed to have been replaced by a new thing that hit Kuching (though I've not been to the shop yet) IGLOO. The stall sells flavoured shaved ice. I wasn't expecting much when I bought myself a cup (sorry, no photo available) but I was very much pleasantly surprised. The shaved ice was really really flaky and it melted the moment you place in into your mouth. It is quite a pleasant sensation if you ask me. The flavour that I bought was the champagne flavoured one. I was recommended the green tea flavoured shaved ice which is suppose to be their signature flavour. The colour kinda scared me off ... so I opted for the champagne flavour! It was pretty good!

The other thing that I look forward to would be the sticky mango rice. I had this in Thailand before and I still think that the one in Thailand is a lot better than what they offer here. Maybe its due to the mango. However, the mango in Thailand seemed to be more succulent compared to the mango here. Hmmm .. maybe I'm just being bias. But then again, the mango wasn't as sweet or as juicy. Still, I'd say its not bad. But the rice definitely wasn't as nice. The coconut milk as you can see in the photo isnt premixed into the glutinous rice. Maybe that's why the flavour isn't as rich as those I had in Thailand. In Thailand, the coconut milk is already infused into the glutinous rice. I'm also guessing that the rice that they used might have been cooked with some pandan leaves or pandan essence added because there's this fragrant pandan smell to their rice as well compared to the one that the Thai Restaurant sells which lacks it.

Tsui Hua Lau's stall has been sadly diminished to a pretty small and miserable looking stall compared to how their stall USED to look!! Somehow, this time around, Tek and I weren't just that excited by the festival anymore. :( We both had the LL Banana Leaf Briyani. At the very same stall, I bought this canai thingy which was sold in a very shocking RED colour! I found it a tad too sweet though. But if you happen to be a sweet tooth, I think you'd enjoy it very much. However, the colour does seem a tad shocking @ the very first sight!

Papadom that is given together with the briyani rice we ordered. One order can have one piece!

The "canai" that I told you about which is sweet. But its the colour that's scary!!! So red!!

I also bought this "bun" like thingy from the Korean stall. Its deep fried and covered in sesame seed. Nice! Inside of the bun, its filled with bean paste. So it has this sweetish flavour to it. However, theirs a slight salty taste on the outside and the sesame seed definitely gave it some fragrance. the whole "bun" is covered with sesame seed. The dough of the "bun" itself is some kinda sticky dough which has a chewy texture to it. Which I do happen to like. In fact it is quite similar to an entry that I have done earlier on this month about "chewy ball shaped" food stuff that is sold over @ Sin Wan, Jalan Song. The only difference is that the one sold over @ Sin Wan is more chewy in texture, but the one here, is fried I think a tad more intensely thus giving it a crispier feel upon the initial bite into it. The one over @ Sin Wan also has a sweeter taste to the dough used compared to this one.

The texture outside is chewy. And inside its filled with bean paste. Sweetish. Nice combination all in all. A tad oily though.

Oh...oh.. and there's the Dragon's Whiskers!! Apparently this only available twice a year! Yeah ... I asked the stall owner's before, but they only sell like twice a year! Once during the Kuching Festival and the other occasion will be before the Chinese New Year when the Chinatown (Pandungan) is closed to traffice and opened for people to set up stall! Liddat also can!!!! However, I'd recommend that you try to buy them fresh. Because if they've been prepacked and left there for awhle, the "dragon's whiskers" which is actuall some kinda candy thingy will be exposed to moisture and leaves it sticky instead of the nice cottony texture that it should have. So ask for freshly made ones instead! The insides are filled with peanut bits. Personally, I wish I can just buy the candy cause I'm not too big a fan of peanuts. Well, nuts of any kind. :P

The inside of the "dragon whiskers". The peanut bits filling. As you can see, it does look a tad soggy @ the bottom of the candy already. It isn't suppose to be like that. It should be as how its name says ... whiskery looking!

On another another note ... nothing to do with the Kuching Fest @ all. I suddenly am craving for laksa!!! Laksa from Fuyu Cafe!!! (tummy *growls*)

Mmmm... I like loads of lime juice in my laksa!

Hungry....

Because I'm so hungry now .. I shall blog about food. Right now I'm so craving for something that I'd already had for lunch. Mee Sua! Hmm ... how should I describe mee sua?

This is what is said about Mee Sua :

Mee Sua
Mee Sua is basically a breakfast dish, much like Mee Kolok. It is a variety of rice noodles served with a chicken drumstick in chicken/mushroom clear soup and usually some Chinese white wine.

This thin, delicate noodle is made from rice flour, and is usually sold dried in boxes. It takes no time to cook, and is generally served in a soup. Representing 'long life', it is customary to serve a person Mee Sua soup on his or her birthday in Nyonya homes.

As a Peranakan Hokkien who married into another Hokkien family, Mrs Yong Eng Swee explained that noodle dishes such as Hokkien mee is a ''must have'' dish for major Chinese festivals like the lunar New Year while mee sua is served to commemorate birthdays and when one needs a change of luck. ''The Hokkiens will always serve mee sua with a pair of hard boiled eggs to denote good things come in pairs. (Oh..oh .. and due to this excerpt, allow me to digress a bit!) I have always thought that Mee Sua is a Foochow dish. Where I come from, it seems t be. Until I found this article here that says its a Hokkien dish!! And here I am, a Hokkien (pure-bred nonetheless) and thinking that the dish I so love is a Foochow dish. But who cares who's dish it it??? Its just yummy!!! To read the article click HERE!

Anyway, ok, the mee sua that I so love to have in Kuching (at the moment) is @ this coffeeshop known as HOW-YOU. I think the owner forgot to insert "are" in between the "how" and the "you". But what do I know right? Back to the story, there's this lady there whom in my opinion makes pretty good mee sua. I have always loved mee sua. But after a certain episode that happened a few days ago has made me wonder if its time for to change stalls. I need to find a new mee sua stall. The lady seems to be getting stingy. I love having strong chinese red wine flavour in my mee sua (most people add chinese red wine and not chinese white wine into their mee sua). Then ah .. this lady, for leaves like this itsy bitsy little few drops of chinese red wine in the bottle that she gives out to customers who ask for extra red wine. I have this thing against stall keepers who are super kiam siap! (super stingy type!) Due to this .. I shall look for new stall liao. :( Sacrifices must be made!!

This is how mee sua looks like before it is cooked.

Sorry, but I took the photo off the Internet.

This is how mee sua looks like after cooked and is served up. Though different people do serve it up differently.

This one also taken from internet. My mee sua looks much much nicer one!

This is how I like my mee sua served! This is from the stall that where I have frequented for my mee sua. The egg is supposed to be boiled one. But then she was out of boiled eggs. So she kinda like cracked open an egg to my soup and boiled my egg in there. Works for me still. Oh..oh .. and then today even worse!! I didnt have any extra red wine to add to my mee sua @ all!!! Grrrr... so disappointing.

I'd already finished all my mee sua. The dish is normally served with chicken

Due to my hunger pangs .. I'm feeding myself Ferrero Roche. I used to love them so much, but somehow, I find them not that nice anymore ler. I need new chocs to satisfy me. :(

To the "Old Friend"....

Friendship is a funny thing. Just like any other relationships it needs to be nurtured. To me, I liken friendship to that of the man/woman relationship. Its just as complicated, if not more. It needs to be built and nurtured. And then there's are those friends whom you know are the "right" ones for you. The soul mates. I have had my fair share of crashes and burns from the different friendships that I have built up over the years. From school days to college days to now ... my working days. There were those true friends who has stuck by me through thick and thin. Watched me laughed and watched me cry, they did it with me. There were those who watched me laughed and watched me cry just from a distance. Then there those who first made me laugh, then the very ones who made me cry. Each has left a significant mark in my life.

There are friends who walked in and stayed put through all the years. Then there are those that walked in and walked out and yet inexplicably who came back, and things just fell back to the way they were, just like they never left. Then ... there's those who walked in, stamped around, tore what I thought were beatiful tapestries of a friendship formed into shreds and left the little pieces lying around...

To you the friend(s) that has always stayed with me through thick and thin ... my deepest and most heartfelt thanks. I hope that I'm the same friend to you as you are to me. This is for you ...

You Were There For Me
Words escape me
at this moment
that seems like the end
yet it is only the beginning
when friendships are close
and dreams are far
you were there for me
Tears fill me with memories
of both good and bad
some nearly forgetton
yet all dear to the heart
you were there for me
In times of trouble
and in times of thanks
you stood by my side
and held me up
Through your ever-patient ears
to your comforting hugs
you were there for me
From that first day
when I saw you
and knew that
you would love me
for who I was
you were there for me
And until the day
when we are old and gray
I will always know that
you are there for me
For the friend(s) who walked out and walked back in again just as though you never left. And especially to the one who has just walked back in recently and opened up to me as I have to you, this is for you...
A Friend Like You
Everyone should havea friend like you
You are so much fun to be withAnd you are such a good person
You crack me up with laughter
And touch my heart with your kindness
You have a wonderful abilityT
o know when to offer advice
And when to sit in quiet support
Time after time
You've come to my rescue
And brightend so many
Of my routine days
And time after time
I've realized how fortunate
I am that my life includes you
I really do believe that
Everybody should have a friend like you
But so far it looks like
You are one of a kind!!
To the friend(s) that walked out, shredded what I believed in and left the pieces behind...
Friends No Longer
Sorry I forgot to tell you
That as my friend you must be true.

As that I went to say,
No more were we at play.

I meant to tell you the future looked bright,
But all of a sudden we got in a fight.

I went to tell you we should be friends,
That I will be here untill the end.

But you would not listen to me,
So friends no longer shall we be.

Hmmm .. sitting here with nothing to do and reflecting on the past is making me a little pyschotic! But seriously, thank YOU for being there for me all these while and also to YOU who came back! (Y'all know who you are!!!)

XOXOXO

More Personality Test(s)!!

Due to my inability to fall asleep .. I shall entertain myself with more personality test(s). Be it crappy ones or whatever. Maybe those crappy ones will be crappy enough to put me to sleep!!!
WHAT KINDA SEXY ARE YOU? To do your own test, click HERE
You're Hot 'n' Sexy
When you enter a room, all eyes gravitate toward you. Like a moth to a flame, people can't help but notice you. Maybe it's how you casually move through a crowd or that glow you give off when you flash that smile. You're hot and it shows. Could it be the haircut that says it all about you, the jeans that fit just right, or the casual way you saunter across a room looking confident from all angles? You have an air about you that commands respect from men and women alike. You possess such outward strength that these people ache to be around you. When you speak, people hang on your every word. You are so full of charisma and cachet that, whether in a business or social setting, you can gauge the mood in the room and offer the right compliment or provocative statement for any scene. Do you have a secret intuition about how people work? Just maybe. And that's one of the sexiest things about you
ARE YOU EVIL??? (I really do wonder if I am...) To try it out, click HERE

Sprouting Horns
Well, you're kinda evil. They haven't reserved a place for you in Hell yet, but the leasing agents are starting their calls. (Sorry, no air conditioning.) We're guessing you find others' pain funny, your backstabbing knife is probably pretty sharp, and your sexual wiles have likely brought you enjoyment at the expense of your bunkmates a time or two. If more than one of those three things rings true, consider yourself a card-carrying evil person. If you're interested in recanting the evil thing, sensitivity counseling isn't a bad idea. Or else at least consider finding a more sadistic career, like being a bouncer or a meter maid. But hey, to each his own, and if your evilness fits, wear it.
So, you have a healthy sex drive — good for you! No one likes a prude. In general, you give as well as you get, though everyone can get a little selfish under the covers, so don't beat yourself up about going for the big one on your birthday. And while you're at it, go ahead and admit it — you've probably flashed a big smile to get your way in the bedroom (or to the bedroom!) before. But for the most part, you strike us as a generous lover who's doing pretty good at keeping your raw, sexual power in check. Yeah, baby!
Sure, you may be always smiling, but you hold grudges for years, repress your anger, and then blow up in conniving ways — you've got "postal worker" written all over you. If you want to stop the migraines, please look into anger-management classes at the local Y. Passive-aggressive people are often very sympathetic, which is why they hide their anger. So take solace in knowing you're still coming off as kind-hearted, you sneaky, two-faced back-stabber.
We're not going to say you're a bad person, but you're toeing the line. A little advice: Try to think about how your victim will feel before you pull your next dirty prank (we don't care how funny you think it is when you take out a classified ad to sell someone's car for them without their knowledge). You may be under the impression that cruelty is funny, but your friends don't — especially the ones who've been burned by your verging-on-evil ways. Listen to your conscience from time to time, okay?

ARE YOU HIGH MAINTANENCE? (Even before taking this test, I suppose to result will be more to yes...) Do the test yourself HERE

Keeping up with the Joneses

Although you definitely appreciate a first-class lifestyle, you don't feel a constant need to indulge yourself. Sure, it's fun to spoil yourself with fancy dinners or designer clothes every once in a while, but you probably don't need everything in your life to be top of the line all the time. Congratulations! You know how to indulge yourself the right way — in moderation.

A Bit Dramatic

You like being a top priority in your partner's life, but you also respect their independence — and good for you! Sure, it's important for you to feel valued and appreciated in your relationship, but your expectations for your significant other tend to be realistic and attainable. You definitely know how you want to be treated, but you don't think the only fulfilling relationship is one filled with constant doting. Sensible and sweet!

Laid-Back

You definitely care about how you present yourself, but probably not enough to let your appearance dictate what you do, where you go, and who you spend time with. Sure, you take pride in your appearance, but you know that some things are more important than looks. That's a great attitude — it looks like you've achieved a very healthy balance between narcissism and neglect.

Being awake while the whole work is in silence, asleep and far away in dreamland is no fun. Dry and gritty eyes ... Tired out brains. Seeing eyebags and discolouration forming under my eyes.

Dammit!!!! Maybe I need to think about taking sleeping pills!!
